Idyllic

We had a perfect week in this charming cottage. Our little dog, Barley, has been depressed since we returned. She loved her walks to the common and the beach and being back in town doesnt have the same appeal. We loved strolling down to the Lazy Shack on Fisherman's Beach for a coffee and snack or to buy fresh fish. The cottage is clean, comfortable, tastefully furnished and well equipped. We hope to return soon.

Everything you would need

We always have self catering breaks; and this modern, clean house had everything you would need, and in the right place. It is well located between the sea and the canal. We were disappointed the weekly historic tours were cancelled because of Covid, even though canoe hire was still available at the Sandgate end of the golf course. We appreciated the good walking options, and spotting Martello towers!

Thanks

Relaxing holiday

First time in Kent. Heron Cottage is a lovely home from home. Ideally located in Hythe. Enjoyed exploring Hythe and surrounding area.

Lovely place to stay

We've just had a months stay here, looking at the area for a possible house move. Location is brilliant for the beach and promenade in one direction and the shops and buses in the other. Lots of places to eat and cafes to stop in for tea and cake. Heron cottage has everything you need, well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. We had no problem drying the washing as the heating is very effective, so you wont miss not having a tumble dryer. There wasn't anything we needed or wished we had, even being there a month. Parking outside wasn't a problem either. We managed to sit outside in the garden a few times as the weather was warm. Quite a difference from the first two weeks, which were very windy. But we still went exploring. Would happily stay again.

Pet friendly

The cottage is clean and very tidy, the bed was very comfortable (makes a change) everything that we needed for a great holiday was in the house, we parked the car outside the cottage and never got in it again until we went home. The location of the cottage is great, 2 minutes to the beach and some nice long walks, the shops and supermarkets and the buses in the opposite direction about 10 minutes. There is a nice fish and chips shop in Park Road which is opposite the cottage and there is a Pub a few minutes further on. We have enjoyed ourselves so much that we will be returning again, this year hopefully

Lovely well-equipped and located cottage

We've just got back from a week's stay at Heron Cottage and could have quite happily stayed for another week as there is so much to do in the area. The cottage is well located around 5mins walk from Fisherman's beach where I swam a few times (beach shoes are recommended because the shingle is uncomfortable & difficult to walk on). As other reviewers have said, the cottage is very well equipped, the owners seem to have thought of everything, it really is a home-from-home. The bed was very comfy and we slept well although the gulls did wake me up at dawn every day! If you don't feel like cooking it's less than 10 minutes walk to the town centre restaurants & even less to the nearest chippie. All 3 supermarkets are also an easy stroll although Sainsbury's and Waitrose do have free parking. I would definitely stay in this cottage again but may not have the chance. We like the town & area so much that we're considering a move there.

Delightful and totally as advertised

We were really impressed with Heron Cottage. We mostly go self catering and Heron Cottage is the best we have ever stayed in. We cannot fault it. Well equipped and very clean. As a 'back sufferer' I am always anxious about beds and comfy chairs. Over the years I have even had to leave a holiday early because beds and furniture have been so uncomfortable. The beds in Heron cottage are great, very comfortable and very clean. The pillow choices were a great idea. We have family in Felixstowe who came every day to take us out and about. They thought the cottage was charming. Our little granddaughter loved the toy cupboard. To make our stay complete we had four days of glorious weather! We will most certainly come again. Thank you.

“A really lovely and well setup cottage, with thoughtful attention to detail. Having the sea so close is such a bonus. We loved visiting Dungeness with it’s striking landscape. The fish and chips at Park Road were excellent! We shall be back! – C & J, Hampshire”

“We have just returned from an amazing long weekend at the cottage. It’s in an amazing position and just 30 seconds walk to the seafront.
